VHES BAND PARENT MTG. – JAN. 8, 2016

VHES ELEMENTARY BAND PARENT MEETING ON FRI., JAN. 8, FOR REGISTERED & INTERESTED PARENTS

The nonprofit Temecula Education Foundation will hold an Elementary Band Parent Orientation Meeting this Friday, January 8, in the VHES MPR, after Friday Flag Salute.  Meeting attendance is strongly encouraged for parents who have registered and paid for their students. Attendance also is open to parents interested in finding out more about TEF Elementary Band Classes. A pilot program, if there are enough students, the VHES Elementary Band Class is scheduled to start at 8 AM, Tuesday, January 19, and will run for 12 weeks (ends April 22 – no classes during Spring Break).

To make this program work, additional students are needed. Originally planned for fifth-grade students, the program has been expanded to include motivated fourth-grade students. To get the most from this new musical experience, students must attend twice/weekly before-school classes AND commit to 30-minutes of daily practice. Students will learn either brass (trumpet or trombone) OR woodwind (clarinet, flute, saxophone) instruments. Music lessons have been proven to positively impact other academic learning. These before-school classes at VHES are a convenient opportunity for creative expression. See attached flyer for more info.

IF you are interested in signing up your 4th or 5th grader, please register online at www.temeculaeducationfoundation.org/music-program. We appreciate your support, and we thank those who have already registered.  IF you have questions, please email programs@temeculaeducationfoundation.org  or call (951) 506-2470. The FINAL deadline for Elementary Band Registration is Thursday, January 14.

Hope to see you this Friday, January 8, after Flag Salute, in the VHES MPR.
