TEF Sponsors 10th Year of Accelerated Summer High School
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Temecula Education Foundation Sponsors 10th year of High School Summer Classes
Registration Opens May 1; Students Have Until May 31 to Sign Up for High School Acceleration & Enrichment Classes
April 29, 2019 – TEMECULA – The Temecula Education Foundation (TEF), a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to supporting students in the Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD), is pleased to announce that its list of proposed classes for Summer 2019 high school acceleration and enrichment, known as TEF Summer High School, will be online at http://temeculaeducationfoundation.org/. Online class registration opens May 1 and closes May 31. There are no refunds for any courses after June 7. Classes will be held on the campus of Temecula Valley High School, 31555 Rancho Vista Rd., Temecula.
The TEF-sponsored for-credit and non-credit classes offer high school students, including current eighth graders who will be freshmen in August, an opportunity to get a head start on their 2019-20 high school classes. Students also can prepare for the rigors of high school math and Advanced Placement (AP) / International Baccalaureate (IB) Chemistry by taking enrichment boot camps. TEF is excited to continue their collaboration with TVUSD to provide this opportunity for students.
Among the proposed classes are Ceramics, Economics/Government, Geometry, U.S. History, and Spanish 1 & 2. All for-credit classes meet University of California “A-G” entrance requirements. NOTE: Accelerated, for-credit courses, while UC-approved, may not meet NCAA eligibility requirements, please check with your counselor!
Additionally, to help give students an advantage before tackling regular school-year classes, workshops (for practice only; no credit!) will be offered in Pre-AP/IB Chemistry and Algebra 1. The Algebra 1 Boot Camp, which is designed to help students transition from middle to high school by reviewing and helping them understand basic algebraic concepts and standards.
Fee-based acceleration and enrichment classes are sponsored by TEF, with the Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD) serving as the accreditation body for courses taught for credit.
Classes will be held Mondays through Fridays at Temecula Valley High School beginning June 17 and concluding on July 12. There will be no classes held on the July 4th holiday. Schedules vary; for specific dates see http://temeculaeducationfoundation.org/. Classes are intended for students within the TVUSD boundaries; students from other districts should get approval from their home schools before registering. Classes are subject to change based on lack of enrollment and/or teacher availability.
Enrichment or for-credit classes should not be confused with TVUSD high school credit recovery or remediation summer school courses. Information on those courses is available from each high school’s counseling department and on the TVUSD website at https://www.tvusd.k12.ca.us/.
Online class registration opens May 1 and closes May 31. There are no refunds for any courses after June 7. Classes will be held on the campus of Temecula Valley High School, 31555 Rancho Vista Rd., Temecula.
