TEF 2021 ACCELERATED SUMMER HIGH SCHOOL CANCELLED

Temecula Education Foundation’s 2021 Virtual Summer School Session Has Been Cancelled

NEW Acceleration Options To Be Announced by TVUSD for the 2021-2022 Academic year

May 14, 2021 – TEMECULA – The Temecula Education Foundation (TEF), a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to supporting students in the Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD), is announcing that TEF/TVUSD Summer School Classes (virtual) WILL NOT BE ENROLLING for Summer 2021, and instead Acceleration Classes will be integrated and offered through TVUSD during the 2021-2022 academic year though online offerings, in addition to traditional in-classroom classes, with a newly, expanded and flexible academic year class schedule.

TVUSD has recently approved and announced Flexible Learning Options for the 2021-2022 TVUSD School Year which will provide new opportunities for students to accelerate, gain additional course credits, and help fulfill graduation requirements. Students will be offered options to enroll in acceleration courses which will be now integrated into their 2021-2022 TVUSD Academic Year Curriculum (and not require additional time commitment or expense during Summer Quarter). This flexible school year schedule will incorporate additional period(s) to accommodate on-line acceleration course options (previously offered only during Summer School) integrated into the regular academic year as part of an expanded school day. The TVUSD Flexible Learning Option will supplement and expand opportunities for students to add enrichment and breadth to their high school curriculum.

As expansion of TVUSD Flexible Learning Options will duplicate acceleration curriculum opportunities previously provided through TEF Summer School Acceleration Courses, and as COVID-related restrictions continues to present ongoing challenges to delivering a fully compliant summer curriculum in a time-limited, virtual distance-learning only format, TEF has been forced to cancel their 2021 Summer School Program (prior year in-person acceleration classes were sponsored by TEF, with the Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD) serving as the accreditation body.)

TEF remains committed to continuing our collaboration with TVUSD to provide enrichment and to expand educational opportunities to TVUSD students, although TEF activities remain limited during this time of campus closures due to COVID-19. Additional information on TVUSD’s new Flexible Learning options for 2021-2022, along with expanded offerings and courses is available from each high school’s counseling department and will soon become available on the TVUSD website at https://www.tvusd.k12.ca.us/.

Temecula Education Foundation - Accelerated Summer High School Courses

Fee-based courses for incoming Grades 9-12 are offered by the Temecula Education Foundation (TEF). TVUSD serves as the accreditation body for these classes. Incoming 7th & 8th Grade students are NOT eligible to enroll in the TEF Accelerated Summer School Program.

Registration for summer high school courses will be available via this website usually in early May. Classes fill quickly; there is no guarantee of additional sections being offered. Courses to be offered are based on teacher availability and student enrollment. Courses are subject to change.

Accelerated high school courses are demanding and rigorous; they are not for every student. The majority of our accelerated courses cover the curriculum of a traditional school year in just 19 days. This course moves very quickly!

STUDENTS MAY NOT MISS MORE THAN ONE DAY TO RECEIVE CREDIT FOR ANY SUMMER SCHOOL COURSE
Credit will NOT be given if you miss more than one day of instruction (Students are dropped with no refund upon their 2nd absence or 1 absence and 3 tardies). Please be aware, if the student Fails or is dropped due to absences the F will be posted to the students transcripts!

Accelerated summer courses below are always proposed. Actual curriculum varies and is subject to change. Final course offerings are determined based on teacher availability and student demand (enrollment).

For questions regarding TEF Accelerated Summer High School, please email programs@temeculaeducationfoundation.org.

NOTE: Accelerated courses should not be confused with TVUSD high school credit recovery or remediation summer school courses. Information on those courses is available from each high school counseling department and on the TVUSD website at www.tvusd.k12.ca.us/SummerSchool.
