TEF ACCELERATED SUMMER HIGH SCHOOL CANCELLED
Temecula Education Foundation’s Virtual Summer School Session Has Been Cancelled
NEW Acceleration Options To Be Announced by TVUSD
May 14, 2021 – TEMECULA – The Temecula Education Foundation (TEF), a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to supporting students in the Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD), is announcing that TEF/TVUSD Summer School Classes (virtual) WILL NOT BE ENROLLING for Summer 2021, and instead Acceleration Classes will be integrated and offered through TVUSD during the upcoming academic year and the future though online offerings, in addition to traditional in-classroom classes, with a newly, expanded and flexible academic year class schedule.
TVUSD has recently approved and announced Flexible Learning Options for the 2021-2022 TVUSD School Year which will provide new opportunities for students to accelerate, gain additional course credits, and help fulfill graduation requirements. Students will be offered options to enroll in acceleration courses which will be now integrated into their 2021-2022 TVUSD Academic Year Curriculum (and not require additional time commitment or expense during Summer Quarter). This flexible school year schedule will incorporate additional period(s) to accommodate on-line acceleration course options (previously offered only during Summer School) integrated into the regular academic year as part of an expanded school day. The TVUSD Flexible Learning Option will supplement and expand opportunities for students to add enrichment and breadth to their high school curriculum.
As expansion of TVUSD Flexible Learning Options will duplicate acceleration curriculum opportunities previously provided through TEF Summer School Acceleration Courses, and as COVID-related restrictions continues to present ongoing challenges to delivering a fully compliant summer curriculum in a time-limited, virtual distance-learning only format, TEF has been forced to cancel their current Summer School Program (prior year in-person acceleration classes were sponsored by TEF, with the Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD) serving as the accreditation body.)
TEF remains committed to continuing our collaboration with TVUSD to provide enrichment and to expand educational opportunities to TVUSD students, although TEF activities remain limited during this time of campus closures due to COVID-19. Additional information on TVUSD’s new Flexible Learning options, along with expanded offerings and courses is available from each high school’s counseling department and will soon become available on the TVUSD website at https://www.tvusd.k12.ca.us/.
