“Touch-A-Truck” is an affordable, family-friendly, community event hosted by the Temecula Education Foundation with generous support from community partners, sponsors, non-profit organizations, and governmental agencies. Dozens of vehicles – emergency, transportation, construction, public health and safety, and military – will be positioned in a local parking lot. Attendees can climb into the cabs, honk the horns, examine the equipment, flash the lights, and talk to the men and women who work in and with the vehicles about how they use their unique vehicles to do their jobs. Kids (and adults!) are thrilled to examine “up close and personal” the vehicles they may see around them all the time and, maybe, some they might never have seen before!
Admission to the "Touch-A-Truck" lot is only $5 per person (capped at $20 for families of 4 or more) and will include educational exhibits and participants adding to the fun and enjoyment for the whole family. Booths set up by various businesses, organizations, governmental agencies, and clubs will distribute information, public health and safety material, promote their company or non-profit, interact with families, and, in many cases, show what they do that will improve the quality of life for the attendees. Refreshments will be available for purchase from (what else?) food trucks!
Our 2017 inaugural event will be held on Saturday, October 14th, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM with the first hour-and-a-half (9-10:30 AM) set aside as a “No-Noise Ninety Minutes” so that very young children and other sensitive persons who might have an adverse reaction to sudden, loud noises may participate undisturbed. There will be no alcohol advertised, sold, or permitted, and the use of tobacco and smoking products will not be allowed at this venue. All proceeds from this event benefit the students of Temecula Valley Unified School District in the form of grants and curriculum support in the areas of arts and sciences. Please join us!
